Commuting to Tampa everyday is getting old

When my girlfriend got pregnant, I started looking for a better job. We already had two kids living in the house, and another mouth was going to be expensive to feed. At the time, I was working for a car dealership right outside of Tampa. The commute to and from work every morning was only a 12 minute drive. I liked being able to sleep late in the morning, and I was comfortable at the dealership. When my girlfriend found out that she was pregnant with our first child, she urged me to search for a better job. I put my resume on a few online websites, and I searched through thousands of job advertisements. After three months of searching, I found a job at a brand new Mercedes dealership. They interviewed me for a lead technician job, and offered me head of the parts division instead. I have to drive 40 minutes to work every morning, and the commute to Tampa is getting old. Even though I live right outside of Tampa, traffic is hell in the morning. It takes almost 30 minutes, just to travel 5 or 6 miles. Everyone commutes to and from Tampa, and most people with families don’t live right in town. It’s really expensive to live inside Tampa, unless you live in an apartment or a condo. My girlfriend and I are happy living in the country, where we have plenty of acres for the kids and the dogs to play. I detest the commute every morning, but the Tampa car dealership offered me a handsome salary. Not only do I get paid vacation days, but I also receive a bonus check each quarter.
